Our Commitment to Privacy

At Haboochii, your privacy is as important to us as your well-being. We believe in being transparent about what data we collect, how we use it, and how we protect it.

Data We Collect

Haboochii is designed with a local-first approach:

  • All your habit data is stored locally on your device
  • We do not collect or store your personal habit information on our servers unless you opt-in to cloud backup
  • Your creature's progress, stats, and history remain entirely private by default
  • No tracking, analytics, or third-party data sharing on your habit activities

Free Tier (No Account)

If you use Haboochii without creating an account:

  • Zero personal data collected - everything stays on your device
  • No email, name, or other personal information required
  • Your data never leaves your device
  • You can use the app completely offline
  • A random Installation ID (UUID) is generated locally to distinguish between app installations

Device Identifier (Installation ID)

All users (free and Pro) have an Installation ID:

  • Installation ID - A random unique identifier (UUID) automatically generated when you first install the app
  • Stored locally on your device and in your local database
  • Used to distinguish between your devices when using cloud backup/sync
  • Cannot be used to identify you personally (it's a random string of letters and numbers)
  • Never leaves your device unless you enable cloud backup
  • Example format: "a1b2c3d4-e5f6-7890-abcd-ef1234567890"

Optional Cloud Backup (Pro Feature)

Cloud backup is an optional Pro feature that requires creating an account. When you create an account for cloud backup, we collect:

  • Email address (REQUIRED) - For account authentication and password recovery
  • Display name (REQUIRED) - To personalize your experience
  • Password (REQUIRED) - Securely hashed and stored by our authentication provider (Supabase)
  • Habit data - Your habits, daily progress, streaks, settings, and reminders
  • Backup timestamps - To manage and display your backup history

Important: Cloud backups are stored securely but are not end-to-end encrypted. We use industry-standard security practices to protect your data.

Data We Don't Collect

  • We don't track your location
  • We don't collect browsing habits or detailed app usage analytics
  • We don't sell your data to third parties (ever)
  • We don't use invasive analytics or advertising trackers
  • We don't require personal information to use the free version

Third-Party Services

Haboochii uses the following trusted third-party services:

Cloud Backup & Authentication (Pro Feature)

  • Supabase - For secure cloud storage and user authentication
  • Data is transmitted over encrypted connections (TLS/SSL)
  • Supabase Privacy Policy: supabase.com/privacy
  • Servers located in the United States

Payments & Subscriptions

  • Google Play Billing (Android) - Handles all payment processing
  • Apple In-App Purchase (iOS) - Handles all payment processing
  • We never see or store your payment information
  • Payment data is managed by Google/Apple per their privacy policies

Local Notifications

  • Flutter Local Notifications - Used only for local reminders on your device
  • Notifications are generated locally on your device
  • No data is sent to external servers for notifications

How We Use Your Data

The limited data we collect (if you create an account for cloud backup) is used solely for:

  • Account authentication - Verifying your identity when you sign in to access cloud backups
  • Cloud sync - Syncing your habit data across your devices (requires account)
  • Data recovery - Helping you recover your data if you lose access to your device
  • Device identification - Using the Installation ID to distinguish between your devices when syncing
  • Customer support - Providing assistance when you request help

Note: Pro subscriptions do NOT require an account. You can purchase and use Pro features (unlimited habits, advanced analytics) without providing any personal information. Google Play handles all payment processing.

We do NOT use your data for:

  • Advertising or marketing
  • Selling to third parties
  • Training AI models
  • Behavioral tracking or profiling

Data Retention

Cloud Backup Data

  • Backups are retained indefinitely while your account exists
  • Backups remain accessible even if your Pro subscription ends
  • You can delete backups anytime: Settings → Cloud Backup → Delete All Backups
  • We do not automatically delete backups after subscription expiration
  • Deleted backups are permanently removed from our servers and cannot be recovered

Account Data

  • Account information (email, name) is retained while your account is active
  • To delete your account and all associated data, see our Delete Account page or contact support@haboochii.com
  • Account deletion requests are processed manually within 30 business days
  • Once deleted, all data (account info, backups) is permanently removed and cannot be recovered

Local Data

  • All local data remains on your device until you delete the app or clear data
  • We have no access to or control over your local data
  • Uninstalling the app removes all local data from your device

Data Security

We take security seriously:

  • Secure transmission: All data sent to our servers uses TLS/SSL encryption
  • Secure storage: Cloud backups are stored in secure, access-controlled cloud storage
  • Authentication security: Passwords are hashed using industry-standard methods (handled by Supabase)
  • Payment security: All payment information is handled by Google Play / Apple (PCI-DSS compliant)
  • Access control: Your data is isolated and accessible only to you when authenticated
  • Regular updates: Security patches and updates are released regularly

Note: While we implement strong security measures, no system is 100% secure. We recommend using a strong, unique password for your account.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access: Request a copy of your data at any time from the app settings
  • Export: Download your habit data in JSON format (Pro feature available in app)
  • Delete: Delete your cloud backups and account permanently - Learn how
  • Opt-out: Use the app entirely offline without cloud services
  • Update: Change your email, name, or password at any time
  • Portability: Export your data to use with other apps

Pro Subscription & Free Trial

Pro subscriptions include a 14-day free trial period:

  • No account required - You can subscribe without providing email or name
  • Full access to Pro features (unlimited habits, advanced analytics)
  • Cloud backup is optional and requires creating an account separately
  • No charges until trial ends
  • Cancel anytime during trial with no charge
  • All payment processing handled by Google Play (we never see your payment info)

After the trial ends, you'll be charged per your selected subscription plan (monthly or yearly) unless you cancel.

Children's Privacy

Haboochii is suitable for all ages and contains no inappropriate content.

Age Requirements:

  • The free version (no account) is safe for all ages - no personal data collected
  • Cloud backup (Pro feature) requires creating an account with email and name
  • Users must be 13 or older to create an account, OR have parental permission
  • We do not have age verification - parents/guardians are responsible for supervising children's use

COPPA Compliance:

We comply with COPPA (Children's Online Privacy Protection Act):

  • We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without parental consent
  • If you believe a child under 13 has created an account without permission, contact support@haboochii.com
  • Parents can request to review, delete, or refuse further collection of their child's data
  • We will verify parental identity before processing such requests

International Users & GDPR

Haboochii is available worldwide. Please note:

  • Cloud data is stored on servers located in the United States (via Supabase)
  • We comply with applicable data protection laws including GDPR
  • By using cloud backup, you consent to transferring your data to the United States

For EU Users (GDPR Rights):

If you're in the European Union, you have additional rights under GDPR:

  • Right to Access: Request a copy of your personal data
    • Use the "Export JSON" feature in app settings to download your data
    • Or contact support@haboochii.com for a full report
  • Right to Rectification: Correct inaccurate or incomplete data
    • Update your email or name in app settings
    • Edit your habits and data directly in the app
  • Right to Erasure ("Right to be Forgotten"): Request deletion of your data
    • Delete cloud backups: Settings → Cloud Backup → Delete All Backups
    • Delete account: See our Delete Account page or contact support@haboochii.com
    • We will process deletion requests within 30 days and confirm via email
  • Right to Data Portability: Receive your data in a machine-readable format
    • Use "Export JSON" in settings to download all your data
    • Data includes habits, progress, streaks, settings, and reminders
  • Right to Restrict Processing: Limit how we process your data
    • We only store your data, we don't process it for marketing or profiling
    • You can disable cloud backup at any time to stop data transfer
  • Right to Object: Object to data processing
    • We don't use your data for marketing, profiling, or automated decision-making
    • Cloud backup is optional - you can use the app entirely offline
  • Right to Lodge a Complaint: File a complaint with your supervisory authority
    • If you believe we're not complying with GDPR, contact your local data protection authority
    • We will cooperate fully with any regulatory investigations

How to Exercise Your Rights:

To exercise any of these rights:

  • Email us at support@haboochii.com
  • Include your registered email address and which right you want to exercise
  • We may ask for identity verification to protect your data
  • We will respond within 30 days (as required by GDPR)
  • There is no fee for exercising your rights

Legal Basis for Processing:

When you use cloud backup, we process your data based on:

  • Consent: You explicitly opt-in to cloud backup and data transfer
  • Contract: Processing is necessary to provide the service you requested (Pro subscription)
  • Legitimate Interest: Ensuring data security and availability

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We'll notify you of significant changes through the app or via email (if you have an account). The "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy shows when it was last revised.

Continued use of Haboochii after changes indicates acceptance of the updated policy.
